By The Bridge At Burnsall, Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire BD23 6BU
Originally a sixteenth century Ferryman's inn, the Red Lion at Burnsall is open for accommodation and meals throughout the year. We offer superb food, fine wines and real ale. The main bar incorporates the original sixteenth-century structure of the Ferryman's Inn. The horse trough that stood outside the front door now resides under the stone steps that lead to the bedrooms. It was easier to build around the trough over the centuries than move it. Traditionally panelled and floored in oak by local craftsmen, the bar is a popular meeting place for villagers and guests alike. [read more]
